Terms & Privacy

The fine print.

The rules for using Dusk, and exactly what data we keep. We collect the minimum needed to run your license — and you can delete your account and all of it whenever you want.

01Overview

Dusk is a utility client (a Fabric mod loader and client) for Minecraft 1.21.11, distributed under a paid license. These Terms of Service (the "Terms") govern your use of the Dusk website, loader, client, and license, together the "Service".

By creating an account, redeeming a license key, downloading the loader, or running the client, you agree to these Terms and to the Privacy Policy below. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

Dusk is an independent project. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or associated with Mojang Studios, Microsoft, or any Minecraft server.

02Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum digital-consent age in your country, whichever is higher) to use the Service. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may only use Dusk with the consent of a parent or guardian. You are responsible for keeping your account credentials and license key confidential.

03Your license

A valid license grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to download and run Dusk for your own use. Licenses are bound to a single machine on first launch through a hardware identifier (HWID). You may request a HWID reset through a support ticket if you change hardware.

  • One person, one license. Do not share, resell, sublicense, rent, or publicly distribute your license key, account, or the client build.
  • Do not attempt to circumvent, extract, decompile, or redistribute the loader, the encrypted client, or the licensing/authentication system.
  • We may revoke a license, without refund, if it is shared, leaked, tampered with, or used to attack or abuse the Service.

04Acceptable use

You agree not to use the Service to break the law, to harass or harm others, or to gain unauthorized access to any system. You agree not to disrupt, overload, reverse-engineer, or probe the Dusk infrastructure (website, auth server, download endpoints) beyond your own normal use.

05Server rules & risk

Many Minecraft servers prohibit third-party clients and modifications. Using Dusk on a server may violate that server's rules and can result in warnings, kicks, or permanent bans of your Minecraft account. You use Dusk entirely at your own risk and are solely responsible for how and where you use it. We do not control server anti-cheat systems and cannot guarantee you will not be detected or banned. A ban is not grounds for a refund.

06No warranty

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that Dusk will be uninterrupted, error-free, compatible with every launcher or Minecraft update, or undetectable. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Dusk and its operators are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages — including account bans, lost progress, or lost data — arising from your use of the Service.

07Payments & refunds

Paid plans are not live yet; this section will apply once pricing opens. A license is a digital good delivered instantly. Because access and the download are granted immediately on activation, all sales are final and non-refundable except where a refund is required by applicable law, or where you were charged in error and have not downloaded or activated the client. Chargebacks or payment reversals will result in immediate license termination. To raise a billing issue, open a ticket in our Discord.

08Termination & changes

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time (see Delete your account). We may suspend or terminate access if you breach these Terms. We may update these Terms or the Service from time to time; material changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date above, and continued use after a change means you accept it.

09Privacy — our approach

We are privacy-first by design. Dusk collects the minimum data required to run your license — nothing more. There are no analytics trackers, no advertising, no data brokers, and we never sell your information. This Privacy Policy explains exactly what we store, why, and how to erase it.

The short version

We keep your account username, email, hardware ID, and IP address — the things needed to sign you in, deliver your download, and stop one license being shared across the internet. You can delete every bit of it with a single request.

10What we keep

The only personal data tied to your account is:

Username
The username you register and sign in with, on the website and in the client.
Email address
Used for account verification and account-critical messages. Stored encrypted at rest and referenced through a blind index — never in plain text.
Password
Stored only as a salted hash. We never see, store, or can recover your actual password.
Hardware ID (HWID)
A machine fingerprint bound to your account on first launch, so one license runs on one machine. license enforcement
IP address
Your connecting IP, used to rate-limit sign-ins, prevent abuse, and confirm a download comes from the machine that signed in. security & anti-abuse
Authentication logs
Login timestamps and the IP addresses associated with login and access attempts, used for security and abuse prevention. security & anti-abuse
License key
The key you redeemed, linked to your account (by index) so we can honor and support your purchase.
Account metadata
An internal account number and your account creation date.

11What we never collect

Dusk does not collect or store:

  • Your Minecraft gameplay, world data, coordinates, or in-game chat
  • Keystrokes, screenshots, screen contents, or files on your computer outside the loader's own folder
  • Browsing history, or data from other applications
  • Advertising identifiers, marketing profiles, or third-party analytics
  • Any special-category data (health, biometrics, political or religious views, etc.)

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data to anyone, for any purpose.

12How we use your data

  • Authentication — verify your username, password, and email so you can sign in.
  • License enforcement — bind your license to one HWID and stop keys being shared or leaked.
  • Security & anti-abuse — rate-limit sign-ins and downloads by IP, log login timestamps and the IPs of login and access attempts, and detect abuse of the Service.
  • Delivery — grant your one-time, machine-matched download of the client.
  • Communication — send account-critical email such as your verification code. We do not send marketing email.

13How it's protected

  • Passwords are stored as salted Argon2 hashes — irreversible.
  • Email addresses are encrypted at rest.
  • All traffic to the website, the auth server, and downloads runs over TLS (HTTPS/WSS).
  • The client is delivered as an encrypted blob over an authenticated, one-time grant; it is never served in plain text.
  • Administrative access is restricted and session-scoped.

No system is perfectly secure, but we hold as little as possible so there is little to expose in the first place.

14Who we share with

We keep your data in-house. The only third parties that ever touch it are the infrastructure providers that run the Service on our behalf — our server host and our transactional email provider (used solely to deliver verification emails). They process data only to provide their service to us, not for their own purposes.

We may disclose information if we are legally required to by a valid legal process, or where necessary to protect the rights, safety, or security of Dusk and its users. If payments launch, the payment processor handles your card details directly — we never receive or store them.

15Data retention

We keep your account data for as long as your account exists. Unverified sign-ups that are never confirmed are automatically swept and deleted. Short-lived operational data — session tokens, email verification codes, and rate-limit counters — expires on its own within minutes. When you delete your account, your data is removed as described below.

16Delete your account & data

You are in control of your data and can have all of it erased at any time. Deletion removes your username, email, hashed password, HWID binding, IP records, authentication logs, license association, and all account metadata from our systems.

To request deletion, contact us through either channel below and confirm from the email on your account (so we know it's really you):

We complete deletion within 30 days of verifying the request. Some records may be kept longer only where the law requires it, or briefly to prevent abuse of the Service; anything retained is limited to that purpose and then removed. Deleting your account ends your license — this cannot be undone.

You can also ask us to access or correct the data we hold about you using the same contacts. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR or CCPA; we honor those rights for everyone.

17Cookies

The website uses only strictly necessary cookies — for example, a session cookie for the admin panel and a "remember me" preference on the login page. We do not use tracking cookies, advertising cookies, or third-party analytics, so there is no consent banner to click through.
